old hunstanton

oil on canvas 90cm x 70cm

The town of Hunstanton is something of a dump; however, according to Arthur Mee, the people have for their delight the wonderful sunsets over the Wash and the long views to Lincolnshire and Boston Stump on a sunny day. Its wide stretch of fine sands which have brought it great popularity, is sheltered by cliffs rising 60 feet above the sea, famous among geologists for their curious formation, a band of red chalk coming between the white chalk of the top and the brown and yellow stone of the base.
